Linda Albright and Robin Sutherland, the Arts Network for Children and Youth's Executive Director and General Manager, recently completed a whirlwind roadtrip through Northern Ontario to meet with a number of rural communities to build momentum around National Youth Arts Week.  A highlight of the trip was when we visited the Medecine Factory Art Studio in Sault Ste. Marie where a team of youth artists were working on a promotional video for National Youth Arts Week (pictured).  Along the way we met so many people who are passionate about youth arts in Elliot Lake, Blind River, Mississauga First Nation, Sault Ste. Marie, and Wawa.  In Sault Ste. Marie we were joined by our Community Coordinator Rihkee Strap to host an information session about National Youth Arts Week.  At this meeting we connected with youth artists as well as adult allies from Algoma Family Services, Algoma District Social Services Administration Board, Algoma Art Gallery, and Algoma Public Health.   In Wawa we had the great opportunity to present about National Youth Arts Week at the Cultural Mapping meeting they were hosting and through that opportunity met with additional groups from Chapleau, Michipicoten, Hornepayne, Manitouwadge, White River and Dubreuville.  We are excited that many of these groups are now planning events in their communities and we can't wait to hear what they come up with!
